Who Determines The Security (Research) Agenda? | 9 – 10 Nov

The ISGA Conference ‘Who determines the security (research) agenda?’ is organized by the Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) of Leiden University on 9-10 November 2016. ISGA welcomes representatives from the public and private sector involved in security and global affairs issues. This conference will also be the official opening of ISGA as the new institute specialized in security and global affairs issues of Leiden University.

During two days, the main theme of the conference ‘Who determines the security (research) agenda?’ will be addressed by Information Visits, three parallel workshop-rounds and by means of a Keynote Lecture and two Panel Discussions.

Structure of the conference

  • Information Visits, Panel discussions, Keynote Lecture

On Wednesday 9 Nov, participants are able to bring a visit to a well-known organization in The Hague. On Wednesday and Thursday two Panel Discussions given by several prominent speakers will take place. On Thursday 10 Nov, David A. Baldwin (Princeton University) will give his Keynote Lecture on international relations, security and power.

  • Workshops 1: ‘Contemporary security challenges and global affairs

Workshop-rounds 1A- 1D focus on ‘Contemporary security challenges and global affairs in a changing global order’. Once you are registered you can select one of the workshops of round 1.

  • Workshops 2: ‘Current and new actors in security and global affairs’

Workshop-rounds 2A – 2D focus on ‘Current and new actors in security and global affairs’. Once you are registered you can select one of the workshops of round 2.

  • Workshops 3: ‘Added value and dilemmas of cooperation between stakeholders in security and global affairs’

Workshop-rounds 3A – 3D focus on ‘Added value and dilemmas of cooperation between stakeholders in security and global affairs’. Once you are registered you can select one of the workshops of round 3.

There are special tickets available for regular participants and PhD-students and for bachelor- and masterstudents of Leiden University and other students from the Netherlands or abroad.
